Are you still unsure of what to do? Our FAQ's section will provide answers to all your questions and uncertainties...

How does this whole placement process work?

  • You register with CBI either by submitting your details via the Internet, by fax or through visiting to one of the offices or recruitment fairs around Australia. (Registration consists or completing a registration form and paying a non-refundable registration fee.)
  • CBI then gets back to you to clarify any questions and forwards your file to one of the selected office overseas, presently either in UK, Ireland, Japan or Canada.
  • Suitable employers will see your application and get back with job offers.
  • You decide which employers you would like to talk with and we schedule a telephone conference between you and them; you can ask all the questions you would to have clarified before making a final decision.
  • Once you have chosen an employer we usually get a written job offer for you and confirm your arrival date.
  • While you are in your new host country our local office will be looking after you and be your first port of call should you come across any questions or problems.

Who are your offices overseas?

  • All our partner agencies are carefully selected and screened
  • We personally know the people running and working in the various offices, we stay in regular, often daily, contact and all offices have been established for a long time and are highly reputed in their region or country.

What happens if I want to change employer?

  • If you are thinking of changing employer or you come across any problems you just need to call your local office for advice.
  • If the problems can be overcome our office will try to sort things out for you together with you and your employer.
  • If the problem can not be rectified or you feel like a change of environment our local office will introduce you to other suitable employers.
  • You talk with interested parties and again choose your preferred employer.
  • Remember any job you can find in the newspapers we probably would have had available for our clients previously.
  • All our offices are very well connected, always hear of up-coming vacancies and usually have them filled long before they would ever make it to the newspapers.
  • So, if you want a change let us know. We cover everything from 5-star luxury hotels to pubs and restaurants.

I don't have much experience in hospitality - What are my chances?

  • Many clients of ours prefer people with little or no experience, which allows them to train you 'their way'.
  • A vast group of our clients has come from various trades such as carpenters, tilers, plumbers, etc, motor mechanics, boilermakers, to name just a few.
  • Through attending a CBI intensive weekend workshop, which brings you up to speed with 5-star operations and allows you to adapt to a lower level of service quality according to the work environment you find yourself in once you have accepted a position, just about everybody can get a great job in often fantastic places with great income and interesting job descriptions.

I'm not sure what to do about a working permit or visa. Do you help?

  • We have been placing people in international positions for close to 8 years and we are usually up to date with the latest visa regulations.
  • We know the 'Ins' and 'Outs' and the traps and we can tell you the answers that have worked for other applicants.
  • We help you with applications and can even lodge them for you. Please enquire about the current costs for this service.

I can pay your fees, however, I don't have the money for the airfare. Can you help?

  • Provided you have a friend or family member who can guarantee for you with their credit card we can finance your airfare and other expenses if really necessary.
  • It would, however, be cheaper for you to finance you own fare.

How does the financing work?

  • A friend or family member of yours guarantees for your initial expenses with his or her credit card.
  • You decide over which period you want to repay the loan.
  • We charge the agreed amounts on agreed dates to the nominated credit card, giving you time to transfer the money prior to the due date to the nominated credit card.

Why do I have to pay an up-front registration fee?

  • Unfortunately there are many time wasters around nowadays. In order to provide the service we offer we have to make sure we only deal with people who are committed and know what they want to do.
  • We want to make sure you get a job that suits you and at the same time we want to protect our employers from applicants who are not sincere.

Do I loose my registration fee if I change my mind after registering with you?

Yes and no! The registration fee is non-refundable, however, you can put your application on hold for an indefinite period. There is no expiry or use by date. Once you have registered with CBI your file remains open. You can activate or de-activate your application any time.

Does your service stop once I have been placed, or can I move on?

  • Of course you can move on and our service does not stop with your initial placement!
  • Our local offices keep looking after you while you are in their territory. Once you want to move on to another employer or country you let us know and we put your file across to other employers or another office. This is a free service.
  • Many people, for example, start work in the UK. While they are there they apply for a Canadian work permit and we place them in Canada once they finish their stay in Europe.

Is all this legit?

  • As government licensed private employment agency we are constantly scrutinised.
  • We have been placing people successfully in international positions for over 6 years.
  • We know what to do, how to do things and when not to do it.
You are in safe hands with us.

How do I get my placement fee back?

  • Unlike all other international placement companies we know of, we refund your placement fee at the end of 12 months employment through our agency or partner agencies.
  • We reward your commitment, enthusiasm and loyalty. You do the right thing by our employers and us and we will refund your placement fee at the end of your term, no questions asked.
  • Should you decide to take off on your own or simply use our service to find initial accommodation and income while looking for another job perhaps in another industry, you will forfeit your placement fee.
